Practice Update 8th October 2012

Thank you for the music tonight.  Thought it worked well sitting in closer group.

Did you forget to pay?  If so maybe you can square us up next week.

Remember Stow College is shut next week but we have a Scratchy practice at Hillhead Sports Club 7-9pm on Monday 15th October.

Venue: N.B. not the tennis courts on Hyndland road –  take Hughenden Lane just next to the tennis courts and  then turn right at the almost indistinguishable mini roundabout to get the nice swish new buildings of the Sports Club.

The practice will take place in the upstairs bar as there is an exercise class on in the far hall until 7.15pm and we don’t want to disturb them.

This session will be tutor led and based on specific tunes we have already played albeit with varying quality –  we are not learning the tunes from scratch but playing them for the tutor them working on making them a bit better.

Tunes are:

Mason’s Apron

Hut on Staffin Island

Loch Lomond

Rowan Tree

Ye Banks and Braes

Anyone welcome to join us for the usual £3 but remember we won’t be learning the tunes from scratch – you ought to be able to play something resembling most of the tunes from memory or music to get some enjoyment out of this particular practice.  No need to book – just turn up.

The last three tunes we will give some thought to how to play these to accompany singers or as an arrangement for folk to sing along with – so if you like singing here is your chance.

All the tunes are on the tunes  page which is linked on the right hand of this page (chords for Hut on Staffin Island missing but Davie will add them before Monday)

Also for anyone who does not know GFW run a slow session at Curler’s Rest on Byres Road once a month and this month it takes place on  Sunday 14th October at 7.30pm.  For more details see
