Practice Update 22nd June 2011

Great fun tonight.  Here is what we didn’t practice:

Bonnie Lass o Fyvie, Exhibition Hall, Enterprise Waltz, For The Young, Kate Martin’s, Lisnagun, Stornoway, Mairi’s Wedding, Reel of Tullochgorm (anyone got the version that Finlay provided handy and willing to bring copies?), Road to Dundee, Rope Waltz, Skye Boat, Starry Nights of Shetland, Thistle of Scotland, Traditional Gaelic Air

We also tried Rowan Tree – will bring some copies with finger position written on or see tune list where I have added a link if you don’t need the finger positions

Enjoyed tonight’s session, good fun and good practice too. Do we need to try some of the tunes we’ve been ignoring? It’s easy to play the ones we like and are good at. Lots of good stuff played tonight and timing was good for most. The odd scratchy one but that’s the name of the game. Some good intros too, well done to the volunteers despite the cheeky man in the corner.

That’s the plan – hoping we can start with the ones we haven’t done for a while next time. They do eventually get a bit better?

yes , very enjoyable. And a very good idea to list the tunes we did’nt practice.

    Hi there,

If you give me the music to Rowan Tree, I can have a go at the numbering. Will probably take me a couple of attempts though!

Hoping this weekend to print off some copies of Finlay’s music for those who do not have the music. Promised Maureen for example.

  5. Stevie Says:

Rowan Tree is on Nigel’s site, tabbed for mandolin if it helps.

  6. Stevie Says:

Oops, you’re way ahead of me Valerie

  7. Paul Says:

I’ve got a copy of the music for Rowan Tree from ABC Notation and I’ve mapped out the fingering for it. I’ll bring it along on Monday.

      HI Paul,

Sorry didn’t u see my earlier comment I already did as you said it might take you too long. But I am sure a stock of copies will be useful. I used Nigel’s version and linked it on the tunes page for those that don’t need the numbering.
